I
have always been a sport and fitness enthusiast and a person with a
passion for helping others. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise
Science form Salisbury University. As an intern, I volunteered at a
local Physical Therapy Clinic and had the opportunity to work with an
array of sport injuries, impairments, and modalities. I acquired my AFAA
(Aerobics and Fitness Personal Trainer Certification) in the summer of
2006 and have been training and educating since.
My passion and inspiration for helping others started at a very young
age. Growing up with a younger brother with cerebral palsy. Watching him
overcome life’s challenges has given me an appreciation for the life
that I have been blessed with as well as inspired me to help others. I
believe that with inspiration and motivation anyone can handle any
challenge, no matter how big.
In the early 1990’s my mother started a baseball team, Mid-shore
Challengers, for mentally and physically challenged individuals on the
Eastern Shore, Maryland. For nearly a decade I helped assist children
with an array of special needs in the basics and fundamentals playing
tee/slow pitch baseball as well as the importance of sportsmanship,
leadership, and character. In addition to Mid-Shore Challengers I also
assisted with Special Olympics in soccer and basketball. Preceding
graduation from high school I continued my education towards my passion.
Watching someone’s life transform for a good cause, getting results,
being apart of making a difference in someone’s life are among the
proudest moments I have experienced as a fitness professional. As a
trainer, my passion is to transform someone’s life to help them live
longer, be healthier and learn a new lifestyle. Not only have my clients
seen changes from the outside-in but also from the inside-out.
This poem may help those that don’t know me understand more about my
training personality...
IF I were a piece of equipment I believe I would have to say that I am
like a ‘stability ball’. It is round so it does not cut corners, it is
malleable to suit any form, it performs well when under pressure, it has
multipurpose to work just about every inch on your body, and will
‘bounce’ you into any direction needed to take action! |
